Boys are simple. We really are. It doesn't take much to make us happy. In my case one guaranteed thing that will put me in a good mood is an Everton win. I can't explain why, it's just built in to me. Outside of my family and friends, Everton will be the biggest thing I will miss when I move to Oz. A fact that is sure to get all the girls rolling their eyes. I went to my first game with my dad and uncle when I was 11ish, but didn't go again until my dad suggested we bought a season ticket in the 1994/95 season. Since then I have had a season ticket and been to countless matches. If nothing else it's an excuse for father and son to bond. Let's hope that should I bring a little male sprog into being that we can emulate this from 15k miles away ;)
As you may have gathered Everton won tonight. (1-2 away at West Ham in the quarters of the Carling Cup). It's an odd feeling being an Evertonian atm as we're doing rather well. For the first time since 1985 we will be in 3 cups after Christmas! Good times indeed.
Spent today in the soulless monstrosity that is EP. Had a course about how to use our billing system. As you can well imagine this was as exciting as a bad case of flatulence in a lift. Thankfully we had a very camp, entertaining guy who went out of his way to keep both his and our energy levels up. I was trés impressed with him. He will be getting the thumbs up if I get a feedback form to fill out.
Despite my easy day and Everton's victory, this news has devastated me. I love the guy. His books have kept me entertained for countless hours and ultimately without his books I would never had met Babs (as we became friends through an online game based on Discworld). I can only hope advances in Alzheimer's progresses fast :(
I should probably post an update on my health. Since the first infusion the other week I have had no pain in my lower back. To indicate how big this news is, this is the first time in about 8 years I've had ZERO pain. Totally amazing. It hasn't really helped the Crohn's yet, but if it's probably still too early to tell. I'm back in next Wed for another infusion. Another possible side effect is that I feel a lot more awake. Some research suggests Crohn's disease can reduce your energy levels and make you feel more lethargic, so maybe the Infliximab is helping on that front.
